It’s a year for firsts in Oconee County!
As if there wasn’t already plenty of reasons to plan a trip to Oconee County, 2011 brings two more BIG events to invoke that visit or return. Saturday, April 30th; Washington Farms is hosting their first annual strawberry festival. This festival will be an all encompassing strawberry extravaganza with farm vendors, games and activities including: hay rides, animal races, jumping pillow, petting zoo, and many more. Saturday, May 7th; the Oconee Cycling Organization is hosted the first annual Tour D’Oconee. This year’s theme will be ‘Tame the Lion’ (lion shaped route) and hundreds of cyclists will descend upon Watkinsville, Ga. to try out their whips at taming this beast in Oconee. The primary course is 62 miles with 2,850 ft of climbs! There are optional routes of 15, 25, & 35 miles. So, If you think you can handle it, sign up today at the Oconee County Cycling Organization
